Caitlin: My New Year Resolution

I’ve never been one in the past to really do any type of New Year Resolution.  However, this year is a little different.  I definitely think my boyfriend has positively impacted this.  We have both decided to get into shape.  He has decided to start a soccer league again and I’ve decided to commit to physical therapy, home exercises, and yoga. 

As I’ve mentioned in many of my articles before, I deal with constant neck/back pain from bad posture and nerve damage due to my ostomy related surgeries.  I recently started going to physical therapy twice a week and already have found it helpful.  They give me home exercises to do and I feel like I am finally committed to doing them and feeling better. 

I am also trying to make a better effort in eating more and healthier foods.  We started making smoothies daily.  We use frozen fruit, apple juice, peanut butter, and Greek yogurt.  It’s been helpful having each other to keep accountable.  Life is different for everyone with an ostomy and it’s all about finding what works for each of us.
