Hi all, I have a fistula right at the edge of my stoma and really struggle to cut the shape of my bag to the exact shape and place it exactly over the right part of the stoma and fistula. Can anyone come up with a fool proof way to help me get it right? Thanks
I tend to cut my back plate slightly bigger and use a ring behind it. Once the ring swells it fills the gap. Hope this helps.
Hi Clare, do you have access to a community or hospital stoma care nurse that would help you measure and cut an appropriate template? If not Keith’s idea is good- place a ring/seal directly around the stoma and fistula and cut the hole slightly bigger. The ring/seal will protect the skin directly around the stoma.
Hi, yes and have tried a few things which seem to work for a while, I have a fistula at base of stoma which causes issues. I used eakin seal for a few years then began to leak so have now been given convex which was great but am always going to have issues until I get a refashion I think., I watched a video about cutting an oval shaped stoma and it helps.Thank you
